NOTE: This business is NO LONGER Elk Tractor. I bought a Cub Cadet zero-turn mower from them last year and they were great. Never mind the ultra-dangerous turn across a 75 mph divided four-lane needed to get there if you are coming from La Grange - often pulling a trailer - or the fact that there was no side entrance on the quiet two-lane bordering on the southeast side; the people were friendly and helpful, and the service was very good.
I just called the number to schedule service on my mower and was told that about a year ago Elk was bought out by Sherer Kubota, and that they no longer serviced Cub Cadet.
As I told the lady I talked to, I will never do business with this company, and will not hesitate to speak my views whenever and wherever I have the opportunity.
ABSOLUTELY NOT RECOMMENDED.
This is no way to engender customer loyalty, or transfer allegiance from an old and established vendor to a new one. I understand, Sherer has a bunch of locations and they are busily gobbling up the smaller mom-and-pop shops around the area, but that doesn't make me in the least less bitter about what I feel is tantamount to casting a large customer base adrift.
